Are You A Ride or Die Chick?

Hi Dolls,

I thought I'd share with you all some information about what a "Ride or Die Chick" actually is, and really would a real woman want to be one?  In conversations, when asked the majority of men to define a "Ride or Die Chick" they defined her as: a female who is willing to do anything for her man.  While it sounds good and desirable, is it actually what every man wants?
When this cliché' was actually broken down you'll find I’m sure even a deeper meaning.
To ride: just like getting into a car, a willing participant, willing to do what it takes to keep and please her man.
Or die: meaning at all costs willing to take risks or blame if need be, the scape goat of whatever contrivance; willing to bear consequence or liability, criminal, civil, including bodily harm to self or others.
The so called “Ride or Die Chick” has no limitations.  She is controlled by every whim or intent with which her man produces whether it is perceived as beneficial to her or not.  When asked, most real men want and respect a woman with limitations, her own mind, and intelligence to say no to something detrimental.  Yes, men want a woman that is trustworthy; a trustworthy woman is someone who demonstrates a strong character and not a lack of judgment.  Many women mistake having a man’s back from carrying him whereas he is not contributing to the relationship or household.

Women whom have an Investment-mind are strongly sought after; have you ever wondered why certain men pick certain women? It is not all about the looks; a man wants a woman who can handle the finances without making them both go broke. He wants a woman to make solid choices in investments and rather than having a closet full of Gucci perhaps having stock in Gucci.
Men also stated that they want a generous woman, a woman who extends her hand without the perception that she is getting something of material value. Men also value women who take care of her appearance and respect her man and are not influenced by her mother’s or friends opinions as to how to conduct herself with him.
Instead of the label of “Ride or Die Chick” men really want a COO, yes ladies a Chief Operating Officer. She knows how to prepare one of his favorite meals, support him when he is down, build him up, love him, and again be prosperous with him.
Though there are a small amount of men who would take a “Ride or Die Chick” that is willing to do whatever and at any cost to be with them, their caliber as men falls short of what is defined as a man of substance.  Really, how much are you valued as a woman, if your man wouldn't mind putting you at risk?  There were many comments on this subject in conversation.  One man said it best.  "I want a queen not a servant."

If you don't mind always being a side chick, never a wife or having a real man of substance.  The title "Ride or Die" could be a badge of honor for you and even of honorable mention among savages.  Even a “Ride or Die” man wants a woman who has her own mind and limitations.  But the choice is yours ladies though what is most desired is obvious.

-XOXO

Myth or Fact? Are Heels Dangerous To Drive In?

Hello Dolls,

I initially thought of this topic after messing up a few pair of my shoes after driving. Then I scoured the net and found some interesting reasons why experts believe that driving while wearing heels is unhealthy and dangerous.
Driving while wearing heels is seemingly dangerous because of reaction time, ability to brake and to not over or under accelerate. Despite the damage of wearing heels over time can do to your legs, calves, ankles, and feet. Wearing heels while driving can cause you to get in a car accident, however according to the “Experts” flip flops are also dangerous as well as driving barefoot.
Some say that driving with heels can lead to ovary damage, however I found no proof of that, just an opinion of women who were not allowed to drive in their country due to a probability of becoming infertile from too much driving.
On Mythbusters Jamie Hyneman illustrates driving in four inch stilettos in a fast blue Mustang, there was no difference in acceleration and braking. Now when driving in wedges there was a worst reaction time than stilettos. Now the shoes that tested the worst were snow boots, they got stuck behind the brake. It is not so much the footwear that is going to be the deciding factor as if heels are safe to drive in, it will be the type of driver and how comfortable a person is with heels.

So  any shoe can get stuck in the pedals of a car, maybe that is why they changed them over the years. As I mentioned before I originally thought of this topic after messing up a couple pair of my heels while driving. While you are driving accelerating and braking can lead to heel damage.  Your heel, particularly the right heel is rubbed against your car carpet floor or floor board and causing the material to rub off the shoe. The heel can also get damaged and loosen up and end up breaking (This only happen to me once before). To conserve your heels it is best to drive in a flat shoe that is less prone to damage, like a tennis or gym shoe. Call them your driving shoes. Think about it, some of us wear four to five inch heels and while driving to an event or work, those shoes are not meant to wear all day anyway. My most comfortable heels are 4 ¾ inches and are comfortable because they have the platform in the front, however I can only wear these shoes for about 8 hours before my feet are calling for a flat surface.
By wearing flats while driving you are less likely to damage your shoes and create more time for you to comfortably wear your shoes.

All in all be safe and love your shoes.

XOXO

Make Your Perfume Last

Perfume, Is It Never Too Much?

Hey Dolls,

Have you ever walked pass someone and they had on some enchanting perfume? As women we love to smell great, no we love to smell fantastic. Many times we bathe ourselves in fragrances to invigorate our senses and our male counterparts. Our smells are what are so attractive about us. On the other hand have you ever walked pass a woman and her perfume was overwhelming? Then there are some of us that spray on our perfume all day long, sort of like a re-up. Some of us spray on so much perfume, that after we wash our clothes they still smell like that perfume. Guilty? Well you don't have to be. So what do we do to satisfy our love to smell great and not irritate others? Well it is simple, we apply perfume to smell good and it also makes us feel good to smell clean, fresh, and pleasant. A great way not to use so much perfume is to use the layering technique. First wash your upper torso with a fragrant body wash of your choice, I say wash your upper torso only because if you use it on your lower torso you may irritate some important areas. Next use a similar fragrant body lotion, this will enhance the fragrant smell and give you another layer to help your perfume last. Perfume also last longer on oily skin. Finally spray your perfume, you must apply your perfume on the right place to have the best effect. Spray your perfume on pulse points, like the folds of your elbows, the backside of your neck, your cleavage and wrists. Do not rub the perfume on any of your body parts with your hands, this will crush the scent and wipe out the effect.

Here are some great fragrances to try if you have not already:
Dolce & Gabbana (Light Blue)
Marc Jacobs (Daisy)
YvesSaintLaurent (YSL Parisienne)
M.A.C. (Turquatic)
Hello Kitty
Flower Bomb (Viktor&Rolf)
Marc Jacobs (Honey)

Perfumes can change your moods and moments, so smelling good is always the option, just don't over do it. Here are some great perfumes that are worth buying. If you are not sure if you would like to purchase an entire bottle, you may purchase some perfumes in roller balls, they cost approximately $19.00 & up, you can find them at Sephora and Ulta they are 0.33 ounces.

Stay Fabulous,

Nikki

Let's Get Our Natural Hair Healthy

Hey Dolls!

With weave and hair extensions being the "it" thing nowadays, so many of us forget to take care of our REAL HAIR.  While it may not be convenient and can be time consuming, growing long and strong hair is achievable. Below are a few tips to help you grow stronger and longer NATURAL HAIR!

  • LET YOUR HAIR BREATHE!  A seed cannot grow into a flower if there is always something on top of it blocking it from the sun.  The same goes for your hair.  If you always have weave or braids in your hair, you are not allowing your scalp or your hair to breathe or soak in some Vitamin D from the sun.
  • EAT RIGHT AND EXERCISE:  You get out of the body, what you put into it.  If you starve the body of proper nutrients and vitamins, it cannot function properly.  Hair and nail growth is included in that.
  • MASSAGE YOUR SCALP (OR HAVE YOUR BOYFRIEND DO IT): Just like exercise increases blood flow throughout the body, scalp massages do the same thing for your hair follicles.  Massages help to increase blood circulation to your brain and your scalp which promotes healthy hair growth.
So do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a nice scalp massage after a 30 minute workout... hey not only will you have great hair, but a great body too!

Till Next Time Dolls

XOXO,

Paper Doll

The Golden Rules To Care For Virgin Human Hair Extensions

Hey Dolls,

If any of you LOVE weave and hair extensions like I do, then I'm sure you have had the problem with BAD WEAVE. For the Most Part, you either have quality hair or you don't; However, you can have quality hair, but if you take care of it poorly it will not last.  So after a few days of research and a few hairstyles of practice, I've developed a few Golden Rules to help you Care for your Virgin Hair Extensions.

  • Brush before bed and before washing to ensure there are no natural occurring tangles caused by wind or friction
  • Do not brush wet hair as that is when hair follicles are at their most vulnerable.
  • Use an Organic and sulfate free shampoo. Sulfate strips hair of natural oils, as there is no direct supply of nutrients from your scalp into the extension strands, its vital that you use a no sulfate shampoo to avoid drying the hair out.
  • To avoid damaging the extensions, the cuticles and your scalp, only wash with warm water.
  • Wash the hair gently in a downward motion with your palms, do not scrub or bunch the hair together as this will cause open cuticles to rub against each other causing friction.
  • Rinse between each wash, and wash only 1-2 times.
  • Whilst wet, add 2-3 drops of natural oil such as Almond or Coconut by gently applying it evenly over the hair, these oils will penetrate the cuticles and add moisture to hair extensions.
  • Natural oils do the work of most conditioners without the added chemicals and silicons, natural is always best.
  • Finally, lower the shower head and rinse your hair (not scalp) with cold water, this is known as an 'Arctic Rinse'  it will close the cuticles to lock the moisture and nutrients in, leaving you with nutrient rich extensions.

  • Let your hair air-dry at home, take 2-3 hours to wash and naturally dry your hair - Do not use heat as this will swell and dry your strands.
  • Apply a small amount of Almond or Coconut oil 2-3 times a week or when required. Argon oil is a great finishing oil for styling and frizz for nights out, however its a dry oil and does not moisturize the hair as well as Almond or Coconut.
  • For long lasting hair extensions, moisturize your hair (with a natural moisture rich oil) as you do your skin, it makes perfect sense.

HAIR PRODUCTS FOR REMY HAIR EXTENSIONS
We suggest that you use the following products (or similar no Sulfate shampoo's) to maintain your hair extensions.

Kae Nutri Radiance Shampoo
Aveda Be Curly

Braids are for comfort... But Who Says They're not Sexy?

Hey Dolls,

I've noticed that most of us feel a certain way about braids. I've overheard and I'm actually guilty of it myself, that braids are made for comfort, not sexiness! Braids are comfortable. When we are planning to go to a warm vacation spot the number one thing we think about is "What am I going to do with my hair?" The first light-bulb that goes off in your mind is braids. Why? Because we know that we won't have to deal with our natural hair or have to worry about styling and etc. The braids serve as a "coolant" to the scalp. We know that our natural hair won't get damaged due to excessive heat. The braids serve as a protection style for the hair.

While braids serve many purposes for us, they can also be worn many different ways! It's all about "creativity" and setting statements with your style! Here are a couple of styles suggestions to help get you started.

Box braids or individuals use a large hair tie to put the braids in a ponytail. Then take the loose braids and rap them around taking them in circular motion to create a beautiful big Nubian bun. With a little make-up,  accessories, and edge control for those "baby hairs" you'll be styling and profiling in no time.

For zillions, since much hair is left unbraided, use a hair tie to put your braids in a ponytail. Split the braids into two sections. Take one section bend it back towards the right side and one section towards the left. Yale a small section from one of those sides and pull it back towards the middle to create an elegant fashionable bow bun. With some dangling ear rings and a little make-up you'll be good to go!

Braids

There are three different techniques to braiding. The original technique is known as the "three- strand braid in which you split a section of your hair into three parts and intertwine the sections of hair together to make what is known today as braiding. The second kind is "fish braiding" in which you take four sections of hair and intertwine them together to create a much larger creative braid. Lastly we have the "under braid" in which you take a section of the hair split it into three parts and intertwine them under each other which creates for you a strong rooted braid! Although many styles have been created today, all of them have originated from these three techniques. Think about it... Goddess braids, box braids, zillions, plaits (another word for braiding) all are or can be made up of three or more strands of hair being woven together.

Feminine Issues.... How To Get Rid of Them For Good!

Hello Dolls!!

I have received tons of questions on feminine hygiene problems and I thought I would share a few tips I have learned over the years. As we go into the spring and summer months, a women's hygiene only becomes more important and equally becomes harder to maintain freshness.  So here are a few easy suggestions to help any woman combat vaginal infections and odors.

  1.  Soak Underwear in diluted Vinegar and Water  before Washing:  Ever have a reoccurring yeast or vaginal infection? You could have been getting it from your panties. The bacteria from yeast and other vaginal infections can actually sit and grow in your panties. Regular laundry detergent does not necessarily kill all bacteria so pre-soaking your panties in a vinegar and water solution will definitely assist in getting rid of bacteria in your underwear and help stop this reoccurring infections.
  2. Baking Soda Anyone? Some ladies are just naturally prone to sweat, and it's a good thing! Your body is working to get rid of toxins and other pollutants in the body. While this process is healthy, it can cause tons of hygiene issues including feminine body odor.  To stop the sweat and moisture from building up too much, you can add a little baking soda to baby powder and dap it lightly around the outer vaginal area. The baking soda and baby powder both absorb moisture and odor, but the baking soda also works to balance ph levels which is usually the root cause of vaginal odor issues.
  3. Drink More!  Unfortunately, I'm not talking about liquor, but another key factor to fighting any infection  is to drink more water! Water works to neutralize the body's PH levels while also flushing out the toxins through the kidneys and liver. Water also helps to stabilize oxygen levels in the body which is very important for all around good health.
While every woman's body is different, we all tend to have similar issues and that is why it is important to share our knowledge and experiences (sometimes horror stories)  with each other.

These we're just a few small tips ... More will be added as we receive more tips from dolls like you!

Have a tip to share or even a story? Please email me :)

And as always stay dolled up

What Kind Of Weave Is That? How The Hair Industry is Selling Lies... (Part I)

 Hello Dolls!

I wanted to discuss a very important issue in regards to hair extensions and their quality, as well as, pricing. Nowadays, everyone and I mean EVERYONE is selling what the industry has coined as "virgin" or raw/unprocessed hair extensions and quite frankly the quality is not that great.  Hair often sheds or bunches/ tangles in the back and does not last as long as it should.    I began to wonder how could I really find some quality hair that will not break the bank, so I began doing research into the different types of weave available on the market and came across an alarming discovery.... Around 80% of all weave/hair extensions on the market is from INDIA.

That is right most hair comes from India, which means for the most part that Peruvian or Malaysian texture hair you pay extra for is from India.  This is because it is the cheapest place for manufacturers and distributors to get hair. Every year thousands upon thousands of Indian Women shave their heads bald in a religious ceremony leaving tons of hair ready to be sewn to a weft and sold to consumers.   Distributors in other countries order the hair, package it and sell it.  The recent trend is to label the hair based upon where it was packaged from , for example a lot of Brazilian hair is actually hair from India just packaged and sewn to weft in Brazil; therefore, they label it Brazilian charge a few dollars extra and no one knows the difference.

The Doll Hair Collection only offers authentic Indian texture hair from India! We do not offer Brazilian, Peruvian or Malaysian hair because neither the distributor nor the manufacturer can guarantee that is where it came from. So to bring you the best and highest quality raw hair, we offer only Indian weave at affordable prices. Our hair can be dyed, cut, bleached and curled/wanded.
